5 Reasons to Attend #APN2023: Building Together Presented by Royal Bank of Canada

Marco Pasqua By Marco Pasqua On February 21, 2023 Access & Inclusion

Since the introduction of the Accessible Canada Act and with Accessibility Standards Canada creating a Model Standard for the Built Environment just a few months ago, it seems as though the entire country is buzzing about the emerging industry of Accessibility Professionals and the importance of creating spaces that are truly inclusive of everyone. Accessibility is a crucial aspect of design and development, and it’s vital to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in the field. That's why attending the Accessibility Professional Network (APN) Conference is a must for not only professionals looking to advance their skills and knowledge, but also, anyone who is passionate about accessibility and being an active voice in the community. If that isn’t enough to convince you, here are five reasons why you should attend #APN2023: Building Together Presented by Royal Bank of Canada:

1. Network with Experts and Peers

As Canada's premier conference on accessibility in the built environment, #APN2023 once again brings together thought-leaders, researchers and industry leaders to share ideas and collaborate on solutions for improved accessibility. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with these experts and peers, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.

2. Learn About the Latest Accessibility Trends and Upcoming Legislations

Attendees will be immersed in deep learning and have the opportunity to hear about the efforts that went into establishing legislation and rules, including an accessible homes standard and the Accessible Canada Act, not to mention the many other incredible sessions on accessibility you won’t want to miss.

3. Expand Your Skillset and Become an Authority in Your Field

As Accessibility Professionals, we want to become leading authorities in their industry, right? So why not expand your knowledge-base with a wide range of topics from policy to disability justice. This is an excellent opportunity to engage in lively discussions with other attendees while expanding your skillset and learning from the best in the field.

4. Earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as an RHFAC Professional

Being recognized for always staying up-to-date with the latest best practices in our field matters. That’s why attendees of #APN2023 will have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits, which will support in keeping your RHFAC Professional designation active and provide a space for growth in your professional development.

5. Meet Canada’s First Chief Accessibility Officer and Other Special Guests

As Canada’s first Chief Accessibility Officer, Stephanie Cadieux is a change leader, and advocate for diversity, accessibility and disability inclusion. She is extremely driven and proud to represent the many voices of Canadians with disabilities. Not only will you have a chance to meet her, but also the many other speakers at the conference – including a charming emcee with a sense of humour (*clears throat* me) to keep the festivities moving.

--

In conclusion, if you are passionate about ensuring that the world is accessible for everyone, you have to attend #APN2023. It’s a worthwhile investment in your professional growth and will give you the chance to network, and explore topics in the field you may not have considered before. What you waiting for? Take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to learn, connect, and build together by registering today! I look forward to seeing you there.
