Are you a school, municipality, community group, or non-profit organization in Canada ready to make your spaces more accessible?
You can apply (before March 15, 2026) for one of 40 accessibility grants of up to $40,000 to complete an access-improvement project in your community.
In honour of the 40th Anniversary of Rick Hansen’s Man In Motion World Tour, and in partnership with RBC and RBC Foundation, we’re empowering communities across the country to remove physical barriers and create spaces that welcome people of all ages and abilities through the RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program.
What is a Barrier Buster Project?
Barrier Buster projects improve access to physical spaces. They can be as diverse as the communities that create them. Your community can use your grant to build:
- Accessible play spaces
- Improved parking and exterior access
- Interior accessibility improvements for community facilities and workspaces
- Elevators and lifts
- Accessible washrooms and showers
- Accessible kitchens, cafeterias and eating spaces

Communities for Everyone, Everywhere
While we’ve come a long way since Rick Hansen’s Man In Motion World Tour, significant barriers to accessibility still exist in every corner of Canada. 1 in 4 Canadians has a disability – a number that continues to rise as our population ages.
Thanks to the generous support of RBC Foundation and RBC, the official bank of the Man In Motion World Tour and a long-time partner of the Rick Hansen Foundation, we have the opportunity to change that – to make communities more inclusive and welcoming for everyone, everywhere.
RBC and RBC Foundation have been with Rick since the beginning. Over the past four decades, our shared belief that accessibility benefits everyone has only grown stronger. Together, we’re committed to creating inclusive communities where everyone belongs.
The RBC Barrier Buster Grants Program is possible thanks to the generous support of our valued partner RBC and RBC Foundation, as well as the following National Partners.
