The Journey that Sparked a Movement
Forty years ago, our Founder, Rick Hansen, set out on the Man In Motion World Tour — a 26-month, 40,000-kilometre journey through 34 countries. His goal was to create awareness of the potential of people with disabilities and to raise money to remove barriers. What began as one Man In Motion ignited a global movement for accessibility and disability inclusion.
Help shape the next 40 years. Your support drives progress today and helps build a more accessible world for generations to come.
Disability isn’t someone else’s story.
It affects us all. Today, 1 in 4 Canadians has a disability, and that number continues to rise as our population ages. While It affects us all. Today, 1 in 4 Canadians has a disability, and that number continues to rise as our population ages. While much has been accomplished since the Man In Motion World Tour, significant barriers still exist that prevent millions of people from fully participating in daily life.
Together we can remove barriers to create a world for everyone, everywhere.
Your Impact
Your donation helps remove barriers and create accessible spaces where everyone can participate fully. Because of donors like you, Cindy Hoffstrom, who uses a wheelchair, can move through her community with greater ease and confidence.
“Part of a fulfilling life is not having to worry about whether you can get into a building. Or even experiencing somebody’s misconceived notion about what a disability is. It doesn’t define me – it’s just something that is part of me. I hope you will consider making a donation to the Rick Hansen Foundation. I wholeheartedly believe in the work this organization is doing.”
