On the air: CiTR celebrates Access Day
On the 21st of May, 2015, the University of British Columbia (UBC)'s radio station CiTR will be hosting six hours of programming between 12:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. dedicated to accessibility and adaptive programming.
This is part of CiTR's Access Day, which is being held in conjunction with the larger Global Accessibility Awareness Day, which focuses on digital media accessibility.
As part of its programming that day, the station will feature several Rick Hansen Ambassadors (including Jessica Kruger, Kristy Tymos, and Grant Gardy) in a roundtable discussion hosted by Deepi Liehl.

CiTR's contribution to digital accessibility
Over the past few years, CiTR's commitment to digital accessibility has included a digital music library and accepting digital submissions from artists. As well, their reel-to-reel archives have been converted to MP3 formats, and their website has been updated.
As part of the UBC campus, it makes an effort to include people from all backgrounds and abilities to reflect the make-up of the campus.
About CiTR's Access Day programming
CiTR's programming for the day will focus on commitments to inclusion through content and voices of their guests, bringing the values and challenges of access to their listeners and the UBC community.
Guests will include the Rick Hansen Ambassadors previously mentioned and a UBC masters student studying Indigenous Community Planning. As well, there will be a discussion about new accessible technology.
For those at the CiTR studios, American Sign Language translations will be provided for some of the day's content, with further details announced later.
