Rick Hansen Institute
Established in 2008, the Rick Hansen Institute (RHI) is a Canadian-based not-for-profit organization that drives innovation in spinal cord injury research and care.
By connecting scientists and clinicians in Canada and around the world, and with a focus on accelerating the identification of cures for spinal cord injury (SCI), RHI translates research results into medical and technological interventions that lead to improved health outcomes, and optimized SCI care across Canada. Its work focuses on reducing healthcare costs and improving quality of life for individuals with acute and chronic SCI.

International Collaboration On Repair Discoveries
The Collaboration on Repair Discoveries (CORD) was founded in 1995, and in 2002, with a broader vision and mandate, became the International Collaboration On Repair Discoveries (ICORD).
An interdisciplinary research centre where researchers are dedicated to the development and translation of more effective strategies to promote prevention, functional recovery, and improved quality of life after spinal cord injury, ICORD is one of the most interdisciplinary SCI research programs in the world.
Find out about the important work ICORD is doing to make spinal cord injury preventable, livable, and curable.
Blusson Integrated Cures Partnership
Together with RHI and ICORD, the Foundation is a part of the Blusson Integrated Cures Partnership (BICP), a collaboration that was established to advance research and improve the kind and quality of care available for people living with spinal cord injury (SCI).
Through translation research, informatics, network development, and consumer engagement, BICP is working to become the world’s leading partnership in innovative and collaborative preclinical and clinical SCI research; develop and promote an network that will enable international collaboration in promising clinical trials and research efforts; and educate and empower people with SCI so that they can become champions and active participants in the SCI community.
