Notable Past Projects

Project: Vecova Centre for Disability Services and Research

April 2019

Client: GEC Architecture

The evolving demands of its clientele, the aging infrastructure of the existing facility and the mandate for Vecova to provide an inclusive environment for all people regardless of ability has led to the need for a new Vecova Centre for Disability Services and Research. Envisioned as a community hub that supports the needs of the public through wellness, rehabilitation, social innovation and employment support, the new facility aims to reach a broader group of users. Patrick with Level Playing Field was brought in to ensure the Vecova is inviting, safe and accessible for all.

Project: Currie - Phase 6

April 2019

Client: Canada Lands Company

Currie, the third and final phase of the redevelopment and reintegration of the former Canadian Forces Base Calgary, continues to evolve as one of the most progressive communities in Calgary. The roughly 200 acre (80.9 hectare) development combines a mix of housing and retail, green space, heritage commemoration and a walk-able urban design that is just minutes from the downtown core.

Patrick with Level Playing Field, and along with Canada Lands Corporations partners are working to incorporate the latest in accessible features in this contemporary urban village.

Project: 9th Avenue Parkade and Innovation Centre

In Progress

Client: Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC)

The building’s unique design – created by architects Kasian and 5468796 – will allow for full conversion of the building into commercial or residential uses as future generations of Calgarians lessen their reliance on traditional parking structures with the increase in autonomous vehicles.

The project will comprise approximately 250,000 sq. ft. and will be accessed directly off 9th Avenue at 3rd Street SE, creating a central point for visitors heading into the downtown core and East Village.

The project broke ground in December 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in fall 2020.

Project: TAZA - Tsuut’ina Nation Development Accessibility Guidelines

January 2019

Client: Canderel

The TAZA development is a project by Tsuut’ina Nation and Canderel as part of a $4.5B initiative to create one of North America’s largest First Nations developments. The project is master-planned to embrace culture, sustainability, innovation and inclusive solutions.

Patrick with Level Playing Field is engaged in the writing of the Accessibility Guidelines for the entire TAZA development project.  Further to the guidelines work will be done throughout the life cycle of the development to ensure the guidelines will be followed and updated as required.
