Rick Hansen Foundation

The Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) is a registered charitable organization that provides leadership to create more accessible and inclusive communities and find a cure for spinal cord injury (SCI). Under Rick Hansen’s leadership, the Foundation has functioned as a social innovator—finding collaborative solutions to challenges in the community and locating the resources necessary to implement those solutions. RHF has seen tremendous success having leveraged the original $26 million raised during the Man In Motion World Tour to more than $250 million to date. Rick Hansen Institute

The Rick Hansen Institute (RHI) is a Canadian-based not-for-profit organization committed to accelerating the translation of discoveries and best practices into improved treatments for people with spinal cord injuries. It does this by leading collaboration among researchers, healthcare professionals and service providers across Canada and internationally. RHI works in three core program areas: the Rick Hansen Spinal Cord Injury Registry, which captures information and data to identify improved treatments for people with SCI and support multicentre clinical trials; the funding of translational research; and the implementation of best practices. Relationship Between RHF and RHI

Since his Man In Motion World Tour 25 years ago, Rick Hansen has nurtured a dream of true collaboration across the SCI-care community. That dream began to be realized in 2003, when RHF established the SCI Solutions Network through generous public funding and private donations. The program has since evolved into the Rick Hansen Institute, to honour the man whose vision and leadership sparked its creation. RHI now operates as an independent, charitable organization.
