School fundraising enables first beach trip

Grade 7 student Eva, from Jack Hulland Elementary, was unable to join her friends and family on beach trips as the thin wheels on her regular chair would sink in the sand, preventing her from enjoying the waterside experiences that many of us take for granted.

Thanks to funds raised by schools taking part in the Rick Hansen School Program, we were able to buy Eva all-terrain wheels for a new chair.
"We had the chance to use the new beach wheels yesterday on Eva's class camping trip to one of our local lakes. They are fantastic! She was able to go in the water and play with the kids in her class!

It really is easy to push on the sand now and makes going to the beach something Eva can do without having to sit on the sidelines and watch other kids having fun.

It is often the seemingly minor things that make a huge difference. Our thanks go to the Rick Hansen Foundation and all of the generous donors who help those in need."
