Since he was in fifth grade, Squamish, B.C.-resident Len Henderson has been a huge fan and keen supporter of Rick and his journey. During the Man In Motion World Tour, Len’s teacher in Delta, B.C. would update all her students about where Rick was and where he was going. If any of the kids misbehaved in class, they were fined 10 cents and that money was collected for donation to the Tour. When Rick finally rolled back into Vancouver at the end of the Tour, Len and his class welcomed him with a dance they created to Rick’s song, St. Elmo’s Fire.
Fast forward 25 years and Len is still crazy about Rick, applauding his attitude and accomplishments over adversity. Whenever Len gets frustrated or feels defeated, his girlfriend, Tasha Sargent, asks him, “What would Rick Hansen do?”
For Len’s birthday this year, Tasha made him a shirt with the help of her friend, Ben, at Webkil Designs. Needless to say, Len was thrilled and now only has to look down to remind himself that anything is possible.
