Rick Participates in Paralympic Torch Relay

On Saturday March 6th, Rick was honoured to participate in the 10-day journey of the Paralympic Torch Relay, in Victoria, BC, as it made its way across the country to the opening ceremonies of the Paralympic Games in Vancouver, on March 12th.
Rick received the torch from community torchbearer Peter Lawless at the legislature, where he was also greeted by Premier Gordon Campbell and Lt. Gov.Steven Point. From there, Rick wheeled to the corner of Belleville and Government Street, where he handed-off to another fellow-torchbearer.
“After the incredible success of the Olympics, I am proud to participate in the ongoing excitement of the 2010 Winter Games”, said Rick. "We have two events inside one Games, and as the Paralympic flame makes its way across Canada in its own unique way, it symbolizes the values we have of being an accessible and inclusive country.”
The 2010 Paralympic Games begin Friday March 12th, in Vancouver BC and run until March 21st. For more info on the 2010 Paralympic Games, visit: http://www.vancouver2010.com/paralympic-games/
