RICK HANSEN HONOURED TO PARTICIPATE IN LIGHTING OF THE 2010 OLYMPIC CAULDRON

Rick joins Wayne Gretzky, Steve Nash, Catriona Le May Doan and Nancy Greene Raine in historic event

February 13, 2010 – VANCOUVER, BC – February 12th, 2010, marked the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. It was an incredible night of celebration, highlighted by a special appearance by Rick Hansen, who was invited to participate in the final journey of the Olympic Torch Relay, by carrying the flame into BC Place Stadium and handing it off to fellow Canadian athletes, who lit the Olympic Cauldron.

"Tonight was an incredible demonstration of the story and values that we share as Canadians", said Rick. "I was honoured to be asked to be a part of it with Wayne Gretzky, Nancy Greene Raine, Catriona Le May Doan and Steve Nash. Congratulations to John Furlong and the entire VANOC team for an amazing start to what will be an outstanding 2010 Winter Games that I know we will all be proud of."
