At the Vancouver Canucks hockey game last night, Rick was humbled and honoured to receive the Heart of a Canuck Award, given to a community member and Canucks fan who exudes courage, honour, humility, integrity and passion. Rick was selected based on nomination submissions from fans at the Canucks’ Local Heroes website.

“I am so grateful for this wonderful honour,” Rick said. “My sincere thanks to the Canucks organization and to Canucks fans who considered me deserving of this award. The Canucks have contributed so much over the last 41 years towards making a difference in the community. I truly enjoyed seeing the great athletes on the ice demonstrating teamwork, dedication and excellence, and I was so proud to be among them last night. For a small town Canadian from Williams Lake – and a big hockey fan – I was overwhelmed by this opportunity.”

In addition to the award, Rick was thrilled to meet Roberto Luongo and absolutely floored when Roberto gave him his hockey stick! The Canucks will be recognizing other local heroes from communities across British Columbia throughout the season.
